Competition success for STOR-i Team

A STOR-i team was recently awarded second place in an international competition to predict rainfall extremes. The team, consisting of PhD students Anna Barlow, Paul Sharkey, Robert Shooter and Emma Simpson, and Research Associate Christian Rohrbeck, used spatial extreme value methods to estimate high quantiles of rainfall at 40 sites over the Netherlands. The competition was organised as part of the 10th International Conference in Extreme Value Analysis, which took place in Delft, Netherlands in June of this year. The team has now been invited to submit a paper to the journal Extremes, outlining their methodology and results.
